ForeWARD Wiki

Personality[]

Mitsuki is lazy and irresponsible, often found neglecting his duties at work. He has an incredibly dry sense of humor, opting most often for the sarcastic response to any given conversation. Despite this, he is otherwise pretty friendly, being a surprisingly good listener when it comes to his friends. He looks out for those he cares about, especially Tatsuki, who he treats like a younger brother.

Mitsuki is the type to roll with the punches since getting invested in something takes energy, but he makes an exception when it comes to Arashi, who he’s had it out for since the day they met. After seeing Arashi berate a concerned Kei on his first day at school, Mitsuki punched him in the face, lighting the fire of their rivalry within an instant. Filled with an immense self-loathing, Mitsuki hates Arashi because he is a living mirror of himself.

Appearance[]

Mitsuki wears a simple black tank top beneath a blue puffer vest along with a pair of green cargo shorts and orange crocs that he’s too lazy to wear correctly and no socks. His primary accessories a blue athletic sweatband with a white moon symbol on his left wrist and a brown belt intended for larger men. He slicks back his hair with only a couple strands of his bangs falling forward.

During the winter, Mitsuki wears a pair of tattered blue jeans with a black hoodie and green denim vest. He also wears black fingerless gloves and his signature orange crocs. He also begins letting his hair lay naturally as he begins to grow more comfortable with himself.

History[]

Mitsuki was born the youngest son to the recluse Kidou Onamuji and his Warden wife, Akari. The Onamuji family were responsible for protecting the sacred Yata no Kagami, a relic used by their ancestors to trap the Mikaboshi, but after centuries of their commitment, their once large family died out, leaving only Kidou and his children to carry on the important task. Because of this, he was an extremely hard father, upholding their ancestral traditions with discipline and loathing the Warden system for how it kept his wife away from the home and glorified the violence that birthed the Mikaboshi.

Akari, on the other hand, felt it necessary to use her natural talents for the city and citizens of Chuushu, and so she rarely spent time with Mitsuki. With both parents attending to their own separate duties, Mitsuki was instead raised almost entirely by his older brother, Hoshi, who he admired more than anything in the world. Hoshi, in return, loved Mitsuki dearly, calling him his “sun” because his desire to protect Mitsuki is what fueled his Reflection.

Hoshi took after their mother, possessing a free spirit and dreamt of being a Warden, much to their father’s disapproval, but when Akari was killed in action, he had to abandon his dream to take care of Mitsuki while Kidou spiraled into alcoholism. When Kidou ultimately lost his will to live, the Mikaboshi took control of his body and prepared to destroy the remaining Onamuji in its revenge. Hoshi sacrificed his life to kill Kidou to stop the Mikaboshi and protect Mitsuki with his last words being “Don’t look back.”

Traumatized, he never did. Mitsuki ran from his home and blocked out as much of his memory of that day as he could. This event led to a chronic case of insomnia due to nightmares and an irrational fear of mirrors due to the Mikaboshi’s mental hold on him. If Mitsuki ever looks at his own reflection, he is able to peer within his soul and see the Mikaboshi, and should Mitsuki ever lose his will to go on, his consciousness will fade and be replaced by it.

After the death of his family, Mitsuki found himself in the care of Moranaku Okuda, a family friend and the former employer of Akari. Feeling partially responsible for Mitsuki’s situation, Okuda worked tirelessly and patiently to help him re-adjust to a new life, but Mitsuki frequently ran away, unable to cope. As his last resort, Okuda enrolled Mitsuki in his nursery despite not having control of his Reflection.

At Hanasaka, Mitsuki struggled with school, but the day-to-day schedule seemed to keep him from disappearing regularly, so he was held back a few years. What seemed to help the most was befriending Mayumi Katsuragi and Tatsuki Izumi. Mitsuki first met Mayumi while skipping classes at the arcade one day, and after being bested by her in a tournament, the two hung out regularly until she became his classmate and was able to help him pass.

Mitsuki met Tatsuki when Hagane came to enroll him into Hanasaka with forged identity papers, and endeared by the nervous boy’s odd mannerisms, he took it upon himself to look out for the rather defenseless Tatsuki.

In between meeting his two best friends, however, Mitsuki also met Arashi for the first time. Unlike Mitsuki, what happened with Arashi’s family was public knowledge due to his family’s prolific status, so the entire school became swept up in the drama that surrounded the new student. Just like Mitsuki, Arashi’s parents died, and he had been left to live with his older brother, who sacrificed his own life to protect his younger sibling. Despite his best effort to ignore him, Mitsuki was unable to avoid him, and once Arashi’s attitude became too much to bare, Mitsuki introduced himself with a punch to the face. He has not been able to deal with Arashi ever since.

After finally graduating Hanasaka, Mitsuki became an intern at the Koukai Agency at the same time as Arashi. Although they work in different departments, their bitter feud continues through petty argument and petulant acts and behavior to annoy the other.

Power & Abilities[]

As a hand-to-hand fighter, Mitsuki empowers his body with Gekkou (月光) energy that becomes visible as a blue fire and increases the potency of his actions. This allows him to catch blades in his bare hands, punch with increased power, increase his speed when applied to his feet, etc. The conscious application of Gekkou powers requires Mitsuki to have fighting spirit. Whenever he is overcome by his insecurities or is too internally conflicted, he is unable to harness these abilities.

Gekkou Ken 月光拳 Blue fire wraps around his right hand, which he uses to enhance his regular fighting style.

Gekkou Shuu 月光 蹴 Blue fire explodes from Mitsuki’s feet, which are then stamped on the ground, propelling him forward at accelerated speed. Can also be used to enhance kicks.

Gekkou Sen 月光閃 Blue fire wraps around Mitsuki’s fist, only instead of being maintained to enhance his physical strength, he snaps his fingers forward and releases the energy in a flash of light. This causes temporary blindness to anyone witnessing the flash.

Gekkou Sou 月光爪 An advanced variation of the Gekkou Ken, rather than bursting from a clenched fist, the Gekkou Sou compacts around the digits and turns into the shape of a dragon’s claw. This claw of energy is stronger than any manmade sword, and rips clean through any enemy. Used primarily by the Mikaboshi.

Gekkou Sai 月光塞 The user first places their fingers in a gun-like shake against their opponent’s spine, lighting a spark of Gekkou flame so as to interrupt the electrical signals running up and down their body. This effectively stops any and all movement in the opponent, rendering them paralyzed as if by electric shock, their entire body tightening. After release, they lose all control of their bodies, dropping to the floor in arrest. Vital body functions resume immediately, however, as this technique inevitably does not injure the victim.

Gekkou Jin 月光刃 A bladed, slicing form of Gekkou flame primarily used by Hoshi and later adopted by Mitsuki. Blue fire forms from the palm and into a wieldable flame, used like a real sword to slice and parry.
